About Symkaton

Symkaton is an annual competition for students at technical universities to promote creative approaches for solving engineering problems. The event highlights the importance of computer simulations as a key tool for the modern engineer.

Qualified teams have 24 hours to confront a task revealed on the day of the finals. The goal is to optimize a device or process using computer simulations.

The Symkaton since 2022 is being prepared in cooperation with the Faculty of Energy and Fuels from the AGH University of Kraków with the substantive and organizational support of Prof. Marek Jaszczur, PhD.

Who can participate?

Symkaton is a competition created for students of technical universities who want to test their abilities in creative engineering problem solving. If you are an student of technical university or master’s degree, passionate about modern technologies, and Ansys software is no stranger to you, this challenge is for you!
You just need to gather a team of 2-3 people to take on a passionate task together and prove your skills.

Important: you don’t have to be an expert – basic knowledge of Ansys software is enough!

Final results of the Symkaton

Eight teams advanced to the final, where they had 24 hours to tackle the challenge of building a Mars rover. Their mission involved constructing a vehicle from provided components and designing, creating, and attaching a propeller drive that would enable movement across a flat surface. A key element was preparing a numerical model of the propeller drive using Ansys software, and then 3D printing the best solutions. The rovers were subjected to tests in three racing competitions: a sprint, a long-distance race, and a target drive, where precision and innovative design were crucial.
